Huawei this Year Positioned as a Challenger in Gartner's 2015 Magic Quadrant for Operations Support Systems (OSS)

Nov 05, 2015

[Shenzhen, China, Nov.5, 2015] Huawei today announced that global market research group Gartner has recognized the company for the first time as a challenger in the Gartner OSS Magic Quadrant.

”We believe Gartner’s decision to position Huawei in the Challengers Quadrant of its Magic Quadrant report is a clear indication that Huawei’s OSS strategy is viable and competitive,” said Dr. Howard Liang, Huawei Senior VP and President of Global Technical Service. “OSS has been a key strategic investment area for Huawei, and the company will continue to enhance its focus on ‘service-driven’ OSS products and solutions, to realize OSS as evolving from support to enabling. Huawei’s goal is to become the operators’ strategic partner in this area.”

Gartner’s Magic Quadrant report is accepted in the ICT industry as an authoritative market assessment tool. According to Gartner, “a Gartner Magic Quadrant is a culmination of research in a specific market, giving you a wide-angle view of the relative positions of the market's competitors. By applying a graphical treatment and a uniform set of evaluation criteria, a Magic Quadrant helps you quickly ascertain how well technology providers are executing their stated visions and how well they are performing against Gartner's market view.” In Magic Quadrant terms, “challengers” are technology providers with strong execution capabilities and high-quality products and services.

Huawei has experience in over 110 OSS projects around the world. This extensive experience in OSS enables Huawei to provide an innovative model of “OSS-as-a-Service” for leading operators worldwide, and has helped them maximize investment and operational efficiency. Facing digital operations transformation, IES (Infrastructure Enabling System), Huawei’s next generation OSS, is set to become a real-time and autonomous system to deliver E2E service orchestration capability. It is cloud based, centralized and model driven, and aims to realize real-time and closed-loop operations, as it enables operators to build a digital economic ecosystem through open API.
